Villa Francigena is a Tuscan hunting lodge built in 1817 by Cavalieri Malovolti. The surrounding land is still owned by the same family and is a private reserve. The lodge was bought by the present owners in 2008 and restored in its original style while adding many energy-saving features. It is situated a short distance outside Buonconvento, an old town on the pilgrim's route to Rome, which was recently nominated as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. There are many small specialty shops and restaurants as well as a supermarket.

This slightly off the beaten path location offers a beautiful large villa As it is smack in the middle of a national park the traffic will be underwhelming. The owners have spent the better part of 4 years restoring this property, which had been abandoned for many years. The modern interiors blend nicely with the ancient exteriors and provide you with all the conveniences and none of the visuals offered by ponderous overdone villas of the past. The kitchen is especially well designed for those who wish to cook frequently during your holiday in Tuscany.
