This area of the
Southern Florentine hills is cited by historical authors
as one of the most beautiful places in the world. Narrow
winding lanes keep traffic to a minimum. Galileo lived
and worked in the neighborhood and it is possible to
walk to Florence for an afternoons adventure or alternatively
take the bus. An ideal country location with instant
access to Florence.

Via Maggio, when constructed in the 16th century, was called via Maggiore (Main Street) in other words as it was the widest street in Florence at the time. It was a posh address as the great families of Florence built magnificent palaces near the seat of power at the time, the Pitti Palace. The palaces have changed owners perhaps but the neighborhood is still an important one filled with exquisite antique shops and art galleries and is decidedly less travelled than some of the more commercial and touristy avenues. This recently renovated palace features carefully restructured apartments, which are light and bright, simply furnished, spotlessly pristine and offer all the modern necessities.
